I cannot believe I made it to Los Angeles

Los Angeles Airport

I finally arrived and I have to say flights to Los Angeles are pretty good. I wanted to sleep on the last flight but I am trying to combat jet lag. I struggled through the entire flight and am feeling pretty good.

The airport was huge and humid and hot. Los Angeles is not like Canada.

I wanted to call my family and my boyfriend to tell them I that I was half-way there. Just one more trans-Pacific flight and I would be in Fiji. Oh I forgot to mention I was doing a layover in Fiji to get used to the time, deal with my jetlag and then move onto Auckland, New Zealand.

But there would be no phone calls home.

I couldn’t find a place to buy calling cards and the only alternative was to pay $15 bucks for the first minute and $2 per minute afterwards to put the call on my credit card. No thanks.

I left my cell phone at home because I thought it would be a smart thing but ultimately the smartest thing would have been to just pay the roaming fees. But I thought I needed a digital break, which is rather ironic since I am blogging about my trip to New Zealand. What is a trip to New Zealand without a New Zealand blog afterall?

So here is the rant of the day.

Why does Internet cost so much at the airport? Why can’t they offer free wifi in all airports. But no, the airports want to make money so they charge at extravagant amount for wifi. If I am paying an airport improvement why can’t they just tag on an extra dollar and give me free wifi.

Sure I appreciate moving sidewalks, they make things must faster and I can imagine it’s good for kids or the elderly. But really I just want to have wifi and I will take the extra long walk. If you’re getting on a 12 hour flight or even getting off one you need to stretch your legs anyway, I don’t need to stand on something that moves. But I do need wifi or to make a phone call that isn’t going to cost me 50 dollars when my daily budget is 30/day. I need to save that money for the ridiculously expensive fast food at the Los Angeles airport.

Oh yeah don’t get me started on that one.
